When I look at the face
of a clock, it seems pretty
simple – all about hands
washing a face - time and time again
but I know, behind the numbers,
a faithful engineer has expressed
in manifold tiny detail
torque and cogs, design and energy
(worked loads out) and, even when features
seem fine on the outside, lots
of whirring’s going on behind scenes
- winding up, turning and ticking along -
crafted by skilful hands;
whenever I look into a face.
Hi John!
ReplyDeleteI send you greetings from Washington, D.C. I was delighted to find you on Twitter today among a list of writers. After I joined the group, my mouse cursor was passing over your icon and your Twitter page opened without me clicking on it. I guess I was "meant" to discover your blog.
The first stanza of this poem is delicious! I am your new follower on Twitter and I posted a link to your blog on my FB group "Poet-a-tete."
It is an honor to connect with you.
Sincerely,
Cheryl
