Pop Off

A soap bubble sits
cradled in his hands
for a little time
until the clock chimes
look - the game is up
when a finger slips
and the video game
in slow-mo stops:
the soap bubble pops.

  1. I recently got a photo of my grandson, all wet in the bathtub, blowing bubbles and trying to pop them on his little body. Your beautiful poem brought this to mind. I am so in awe of poets who can manipulate words into a beautiful or terrible view of life. Thanks for your work. Mary Firmin, author of Deadly Pleasures.
