Sound

The note he makes vibrates away;

an eager dance, transforming

ear-drums and thin air.

The composer wrote down a dot

but hear – don’t reckon – leap to art.

This note is a fine one, invites

your flesh to action through the veins

when body and voice,

instinct, sense, come out and pounce.

A note arrives, molecules dance.

  4. Interesting, yes music looks like dots on lines. When a musician transforms the dots into an instrument it inspires us to dance and clap our hands after a live performance. You describe sound amazing in a few short words.

  5. John, your poem fits right into my thoughts today, since yesterday I saw the Bolshoi Ballet perform Swan Lake in Los Angeles . The magnificent dancers and orchestra indeed made those dots come alive for us and we responded, just as you said. With your permission I will share the poem on my website. Lovely. www.theschoolmarm.com
